Designed with stunning Quilted Pommele Sapele from our private wood locker at the Martin Custom Shop, we are proud to present our exclusive Martin Custom Shop D-28 model.

As one of only 24 Martin Custom Shop Expert Dealers worldwide, we have unfettered access to the Martin Custom Shop and their incredible world-renowned wood reserves. Empire Music Owner Joe Ravita has hand-selected these specific wood sets, and designed the instrument in conjunction with Martin Custom Shop Master Designer Jimmie Kleintop. The goal was to offer the finest sonic experience Martin has to offer with the highest quality wood sets on Earth.

We are always excited to offer classic modern designs with unique tonewoods. This design is a great combination of using the most famous Martin model and providing a new sonic experience with the tonewood choice.

Quilted Pommele Sapele provides the most organic, lush and percussive tones. Players will realize a balanced response that is wildly responsive and offers a true representation of the player’s style. While the top-end output of this guitar is not that of a spruce topped design, players looking for a warm and round playing experience that is accentuated by the dreadnought design will love this instrument.

The Dreadnought body style gives players plenty of output while still highlighting the organic sonic nature of Quilted Pommele Sapele. Players will find the top to be very responsive and will draw out overtones with ease.

To provide the most lively, responsive and articulate tone while maintaining the integrity of the Quilted Pommele Sapele, we have selected 5/16” scalloped bracing. The slightly thicker bracing keeps the top sounding clean and the implementation of scalloping the bracing allows for enough flexibility of the top to get lots of volume.

We couldn’t design this model without some classic cosmetic appointments. The Diamonds and Squares Long Fingerboard Inlay and Black Binding allow for a timeless design.
