The 1959 Les Paul Standard BOTB 40 is based off of the guitar featured on page 40 of "Beauty of the Burst" by Yashuhiko Iwanade. The Japanese book details and compiles photos and information on Gibson Les Paul models from 1958-1960.

This guitar features a burst finish on the top, and cherry dye on the back, sides, and neck that match the original reference guitar. The body is made from a weight sorted mahogany and AAA figured maple top adorned with a cream binding. The neck is mahogany with cream binding, a rosewood fingerboard, Jescar medium jumbo frets, tortoise shell side dots, aged cellulose trapezoid inlays, and nylon nut. Rounding out the instrument is nickel hardware, Kluson Deluxe SD90 tuners, '59 ABR-1 Historic Reissue Bridge and aluminum stop bar, cream pickguard and pickup covers, and gold top hat knobs. The pickups are exposed unpotted Custom Buckers.
