Designed with eye-popping Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood from our private wood locker at the Martin Custom Shop, we are proud to present our exclusive Martin Custom Shop D-41 model.

As one of only 24 Martin Custom Shop Expert Dealers worldwide, we have unfettered access to the Martin Custom Shop and their incredible world-renowned wood reserves. Empire Music Owner Joe Ravita has hand-selected these specific wood sets and designed the instrument in conjunction with Martin Custom Shop Master Designer Jimmie Kleintop. The goal was to offer the finest sonic experience Martin has to offer with the highest quality wood sets on Earth.

An All-Rosewood Martin Custom Shop guitar is extremely rare and demands the finest Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood and a well-executed interior design. We are incredibly excited to offer both as part of this design.

The obvious question—what does it sound like? The sound is crazy full and crazy warm. It won’t be as loud as a Spruce top model; however, the rich tones that are oozing out of this design will still be plenty heard. The trade-off of max volume is easily made up by all of the complex overtones that are easily found when playing this beauty. The fact is that no other design sounds like it, and that’s why Joe loves it! He played one many years ago and always wanted to offer a version that was unique to Empire.

The Dreadnought body shape offers Martin’s most famous body shape to the build, and players will find that this guitar provides a mature tone with a light touch and opens up nicely.

The secret to making this guitar work sonically was in the bracing choice. 5/16” scalloped bracing was deployed to offer two characteristics to the build. The 5/16” bracing is slightly thicker and keeps the top a bit more stiff, allowing for the notes to stay hyper-defined and never muddy. The scalloped brace allows for extra flexibility to enhance the warmth and total volume ceiling. The bracing design perfectly enhances the exotic Wild Grain East Indian Rosewood.

We couldn’t design this model without some beautiful cosmetic appointments. The all Paua Hexagon Fingerboard Inlay, Top Binding, Soundhole Rosette, and C.F. Martin Headstock logo takes the guitar into a timeless era of Martin Guitars.
