Description

Harmony 1966 H-78, Rosewood Fingerboard, Warm Cherry Red Tone Shaded

~Guitar pictured is the actual guitar that you will receive~

The Harmony brand has a long history dating all the way back to 1892. From 1916 to 1940, the Harmony brand was owned by Sears, Roebuck, and after regaining independent ownership stayed in business until 1975 before its more recent revival.

This all original 1966 H-78 is from Harmony's peak as an American guitar manufacturer. It stands above the quality and reputation of the original mass produced Harmony guitars as the top model of their professional line.

The H-78 was the flagship of Harmony's highest tier hollow body guitars with a price-tag of $300 (over $3000 today when counting for inflation). It was made with a figured curly maple body, bolt on neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, adjustable "Torque-Lok" truss rod, DeArmond Gold-Foil pickups with adjustable polepieces, individual switches and volume/tone control knobs per-pickup, open gear tuners, and a floating Brazilian rosewood bridge with a Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece.

This guitar has aged beautifully over 60 years with expected aging and wear commonly found on well maintained player to collector's grade instruments of its age. It shows some scuffs, scratches, minor impacts, finish checking, and moderate fretwear.

The Harmony H-78 sounds and plays brilliantly with microphonic and touch sensitive DeArmond Gold-Foil pickups that excel at anything from jazz, blues, rock, or country. This guitar is ready for the studio, stage, or as a collection piece. Everything is original on this gem, and will be shipped with a new Gator hardshell case for protection.
