Description
Martin Custom Shop 000-28 Style Honduran Rosewood, Black Ebony Fingerboard, 1933 Ambertone
~Guitar pictured is the actual guitar that you will receive~
Only four of these incredible guitars will be built for us by the Martin Custom Shop with an Ambertone finish.
A rare opportunity presented itself on a factory visit and the Martin Custom Shop 000-28 Honduran Rosewood was born. Offering a classic model with one of the most sought after tonewoods in the world was something we couldn’t pass up!
As one of only 24 Martin Custom Shop Expert Dealers worldwide, we have unfettered access to the Martin Custom Shop and their incredible world-renowned wood reserves. Empire Music Owner Joe Ravita has hand-selected these specific wood sets and designed the instrument in conjunction with Martin Custom Shop Master Designer Jimmie Kleintop. The goal was to offer the finest sonic experience Martin has to offer with the highest quality wood sets on Earth.
Taking one of Martin’s most famous models to the next level is one of our favorite ways to design a Martin Custom Shop guitar. This Custom Shop 000-28 is a world-class example of this process!
We didn’t have to overthink this one. Martin had a small reserve of Honduran Rosewood available for our wood locker and we couldn’t think of a better way to use it than creating a phenomenal 000-28.
Honduran Rosewood is one of the most sought-after woods in the world for guitarists and guitar makers. The complex tones that are derived from Honduran Rosewood are due to its dense makeup. Similar to Brazilian Rosewood in many ways, Honduran Rosewood provides incredible power, bass response, balance and overtones. While East Indian Rosewood is more woofy on the bottom end, Honduran Rosewood offers all of the bass and power with much more clarity and character.
We added the Honduran Rosewood to the traditional design of the 000-28 with a Spruce top. It’s a classic combination that thrives in all playing situations.
Players will immediately notice the quick responding tones while playing lightly and the huge bass response with all levels of play attack. The secret power of this guitar is playing bigger than its 000 body shape. The overhead is huge and the clarity is amazing with a heavier attack.
The Orchestra (000) body shape offers comfort and an ability to play all styles.
Tonewoods are always incredibly important when designing a Custom Shop guitar–however, it is a must that the bracing, scale length and other design specifications maximize the tonewood choice.
So, we selected the Golden Era Bracing package on this design. This sought after design offers deeply scalloped braces that deliver huge tone, output and mature/vintage vibes. Players will find that this guitar opens up with ease and complex tones are found at all levels of pick attack.
The 24.9” standard scale design allows for an incredibly easy playing experience and increases the bass response. This scale length works great with the body shape (which is inherently punchier). Players get the best of both worlds—clarity from the body and boom from the scale design.
We wanted to take this model to the next level, so we included all of the Golden Era touches–rolled fingerboard edges, Golden Era Bridge Plate, Authentic Fingerboard thickness and Authentic neck heel size. This Custom Shop 000-28 is a true testament to Martin past and present!
We are proud to offer the world’s finest Martin Custom Shop pieces. Please feel free to reach out to our team to discuss this instrument or any in our collection.
