Returns
Guitars & Basses (Online & Phone Orders)
We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you need to return a
guitar or bass, here’s what you need to know:- Returns must be initiated within 3 days of receiving your order.
- To initiate a return, call us at 412-343-5299 for a return authorization number.
- Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility, unless the item arrived damaged or the wrong product was sent.
- If your item shipped with “Free Shipping,” the original outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund.
- A 3.5% restocking fee applies to all canceled or returned orders to cover non-refundable payment processing fees.
- Items must be returned in original condition with all packaging materials included. For guitars and basses, that means protective plastic must still be intact on pickups and pickguards; all accessories, case candy, and paperwork must be included; original box and packing materials must be returned.
- We reserve the right to refuse returns or charge an additional restocking fee if items are not returned in original condition.

- Layaway sales and payments

- Purchases involving trades
- Instruments modified at the time of sale or after (example: strap button or pickup installation)
- Amps, Pedals & Electronics. Due to the nature of electronic products, we do not accept returns on amplifiers, pedals, or other electronic gear. If your item appears defective out of the box, contact us immediately — we’ll work with you and the manufacturer on a warranty resolution.

This may be the all-rounder of the group. Sitka spruce and mahogany give the Super Auditorium a warm, direct voice that works across a wide range of playing styles, from fingerstyle to full strumming. Mahogany keeps the midrange present and the notes clearly defined, while Sitka adds the dynamic flexibility to follow the player's touch. The larger body contributes depth and projection, but the contoured shape keeps the guitar comfortable and the overall response well balanced.
Fanned V-Class bracing and a tonal rout help the guitar sustain while keeping its fundamental-driven character intact. High-response varnish, a hot-hide-glue Honduran rosewood bridge and hand-fitted bone components give it a lively, connected feel. Cream Crest inlays, Taylor nickel tuners and a firestripe pickguard finish the guitar with a quiet elegance that suits its versatile personality.
About Taylor Benchmark Custom:
A Sound First Approach
Taylor Benchmark Custom is a new class of ultra-premium guitar shaped by Chief Guitar Designer Andy Powers’ experience building bespoke instruments for individual musicians. Each guitar begins with a specific musical objective rather than a list of premium features. That intended voice and feel guide the selection of the body shape, soundboard, braces and tonewoods, with every component considered as part of a complete musical system. A Custom Shop Luthier oversees the guitar throughout the build, working with Taylor’s most experienced craftspeople to preserve that original vision through final setup and inspection. Empire Music is the official launch partner with Taylor for the introduction of the Benchmark Custom program.
Materials Voiced to Work Together
The Benchmark process places as much emphasis on how materials work together as it does on the quality of the individual pieces. Soundboards are evaluated for characteristics such as stiffness, weight and grain structure, then paired with braces selected to complement the top and the natural response of the body shape. Additional hand-sanding and precision fitting create closer connections between the soundboard, braces, kerfing and body. Traditional hot hide glue is used at key structural joints, including the bracing and bridge, where its hard, thin bond helps transfer vibrational energy efficiently through the instrument.
Taylor High Response Varnish
Taylor developed a proprietary high-response varnish specifically for Benchmark Customs. This ultrasoft, low-density gloss finish is applied exceptionally thin to preserve flexibility and minimize damping, contributing to a warm, open response. The finish is then hand-leveled, polished and burnished for a sleek luster and an exceptionally smooth feel. Hand-applied, multi-color stains give each instrument additional depth and individual character.
Refined by Hand
That level of attention continues through final assembly. The nut, saddle and bridge pins are individually fitted and detailed. The fretboard edges and frets receive additional handwork for a softer feel and smoother string bending. Each completed guitar is inspected by the Custom Shop Luthier who oversaw its construction and includes a handwritten Certificate of Authenticity signed by Andy Powers. These details work together to give a Benchmark Custom its immediate response, dynamic range and distinctly refined connection between the instrument and the player.
