From Gibson in 2007:
True to the spirit of innovation that inspired Gibson to invent the legendary Tune-o-matic bridge, the powerful humbucker, and the revolutionary Digital Les Paul, Gibson proudly presents the Gibson Robot Guitar—the world's first guitar with robotic technology.
The Robot guitar was a futuristic model by Gibson using piezo bridge saddles to send a signal for each string into a microprocessor. The computer would control the automated locking tuners with a motor to rotate the tuning keys to the correct pitch. Using the special Master Control Knob you could select the tuning.
Note: After close inspection, this instrument has scratching, impressions, scuffs, hardware tarnishing, finish wear, and binding discoloration. Robot electronics are non-functioning and have been replaced with standard Les Paul hardware and electronics. The original hardware/electronics are in the case. (See pics, light reflections used to show wear.)
