Description

Gibson 1951 ES-150, Brazilian Rosewood Fingerboard, Sunburst

~Guitar pictured is the actual guitar that you will receive~

Originally introduced as the Gibson Electric Spanish Series, the "ES" has become a mainstay and legend in the history of music. This ES-150 is the second generation model of the instrument made famous by Charlie Christian in the 1930s.

The original 1936 version of the instrument came about when retailers Montgomery Ward and Spiegel contracted Gibson to build the models for them. Known as the 1270 model through Montgomery Ward and the Spiegal 34-S, they originally lacked any Gibson identification before Gibson started creating their own "ES-150".

The first Gibson version was marketed as a higher end ES model with a solid carved spruce top, maple back and sides, mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, a Gibson bar pickup, and an adjustable truss rod. By the 1950s it had a fully laminated maple body, trapezoid inlays, and a P-90 pickup.

The guitar has typical wear expected from a guitar this age with finish wear, finish checking, scratches, scuffs, chips, and impressions. The tuners and tailpiece have been replaced with the originals in the hardcase that comes with this guitar, otherwise everything else is all original. Overall this 1951 ES-150 is in great playing condition with light fretwear making it ready for the studio, the stage, or solely as a collection piece.
