“I love the combination of Alder and Maple on a Jazz Bass.  We see a lot of Rosewood on J’s, which is tried and true for the pickup voicing, but something unique happens to the upper harmonic character when they do Maple for the fretboard.   The hand-wound Vintage Jazz pickups provide punch and some 60’s warmth.  Whether you play fingerstyle, slap, or with pick, these basses give you tons of options.  I interpret the 60’s “U” as more of a C shape when used in conjuction with the 1.5” nut spacing.  Very playable and comfortable basses!”- Anthony (Empire Music)

A rare find for this year, the ’68 Jazz Bass® Journeyman Relic® has some stunning features that made this bass a favorite for players and pros. Of particular interest and importance is a rarely found design combination from that year: a maple fingerboard with black block inlays. The two-piece select alder body has a comfortably worn Journeyman Relic lacquer finish, and the quartersawn maple neck features a ’60s-style “Jazz Bass U” profile, vintage 7.25”-radius quartersawn maple fingerboard and 20 medium jumbo (6150) frets.

Custom Shop hand-wound vintage Jazz Bass pickups yield compelling and dynamic tones with the classic three-knob Jazz Bass control configuration (middle pickup volume, bridge pickup volume, master tone). Other features include a four-ply brown shell pickguard, four-saddle vintage-style bridge, vintage-style tuning machines and a bone nut. Also includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and certificate of authenticity.
